Your Next Binge: Harry Shum Jr.’s ‘Single by 30’

Calling all you Shadowhunter fans. If you love Harry Shum Jr., you should check out YouTube Red’s Single by 30. He plays a very different character than Magnus but he’s just as cute.

Do you ever worry that by the time you’re 30 you’ll still be single? In high school that’s exactly what Joanna (Kina Grannis) and Peter (Harry) worried about so they made a pact that if by the time they were 30 if they were still single, they would get married. They were the best of friends in high school and Peter always had a crush on Joanna but he never did anything. Flash forward 12 years later and they’ve drifted apart but immediately reconnect. It’s Peter’s 30th birthday and they’re both still single. Joanna will be 30 in five months, so they make the pact again but this time with a twist. This time they will help each other get back out there after they’ve both suffered from bad breakups. They learn a lot about each other and themselves over the five months.

This might even make you want to make a pact with your best friend after you see these two dating. Dating at 30 is clearly no fun but we can laugh with them. Or are we laughing at them?

These two aren’t the only ones trying to find love. Peter’s best friend, Mark (Eric Ochoa), ends up hooking up with Joanna’s best friend’s sister, Chloe (Hillary Anne Matthews) at the beginning of the show. The relationship takes some turns that you really won’t see coming and it’s a lot of fun to watch.

Joanna’s best friend Lisa (Manon Mathew) is definitely the wise one of the group but she has some things to figure out too.

The bottom line is if you love Harry, this show is for you. He’s in most of the scenes and you can see the range he has. So if you are a Harry fan, this should definitely be your next binge.
