The wait is finally over. Riverdale is back with more “what the hell just happened!”
Veronica (Camila Mendes) said it well, and it’s what we say during every episode. I don’t think getting robbed warranted that statement, but I felt her frustration when that rock was a step closer to getting away from her husband. I’m still upset that she married a man just like her father.
But I do love seeing Veronica and Archie (K.J. Apa) work together, even if we can’t have them kissing. We are at least closer to getting our Varchie back.
Can we talk about what a badass V is? She walked in there with no fear, knowing they had guns. She wore her cute jacket with all the pockets for a working woman so she could kill some time before the calvary arrived. I just loved it!
And we also got V and Reggie (Charles Melton) working together again. He seriously has a soft spot for her. He’s supposed to be working for her father but keeps helping her. While I never shipped them as a couple, keep these cute scenes of friends coming.
We didn’t have to wait too long to see Jughead (Cole Sprouse) was a least physically okay, at least until he was jumped and beat up. I’m worried about him. I get that he wants to confront something that he did, but he shouldn’t have to do it alone. His trip led him to Doc, the homeless man he saw get beat up while he watched on. Doc is right, he was a kid. I guess tripping leads him back to his past, but I’m afraid of what it will lead to. And, he’s getting in a truck, just like all those girls who disappeared did.
It did give us fun scenes with Tabitha (Erinn Westbrook) and Betty (Lili Reinhart)! I’m here for this friendship. They work so well together. And we also got funny scenes with Jug’s ex Jessica (Phoebe Miu). She is crazy. She drugged them to get his manuscript. I’m glad she’s his ex. He doesn’t need that in his life. He has too much crazy floating around him as it is. Riverdale alone is a mess. Now he’s hunting down his past. Plus, that phone call was heartbreaking. Yeah, he said some mean things to B, but you could hear the hurt in his voice. He’s never got over her cheating on him with Archie. I guess hopes of Bughead are far out for now.
Tabitha and Betty weren’t the only ones tripping. Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch), her mother and a congregation seemed to be tripping too. To bring back the soul of Riverdale. It’s going to take more than prays to bring back the town’s soul. Especially since it’s been dark for a long time, even before Hiram (Mark Consuelos) destroyed it.
Oh, and Hiram. He owns the mayor and is being called a “local philanthropist.” Seriously? He’s one of the criminals. He let prisoners escaped—all for money and power.
