The flash forward scenes are making me very nervous. Arrow has always been a dark show, but the future is much darker than anything we’ve seen before.
The biggest thing we’ve noticed in these flash forwards is that Oliver (Stephen Amell) is not talked about at all. This week Mia (Katherine McNamara) says her mom always said her dad was a hero. That sounds to me like she never even knew her dad. She also says that it seems like it was her father’s fault that the city is the way it is. These are all bad omens, but what exactly did happen? At least we’ll know by the end of the season, but still. We just have so many questions from this episode.
Why wasn’t Oliver in Mia’s life? Why don’t Rene (Rick Gonzalez) or Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) know about Mia?
The flash forwards was not the only thing leaving us with questions. Why and how does Emiko (Sea Shimooka) know Dante (Adrian Paul)? It’s hard to tell by that little interaction between the two of them, but was she sent to gain Oliver’s trust? Is she even Oliver’s sister? Does this have anything to do with how Star City ends up?
This was certainly an episode with many questions. The writers are keeping us on our toes.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom, though. We finally got the Olicity moment we’ve been waiting for when Felicity told Oliver she’s pregnant. It was simple but perfect. We also got a nice Olicity moment earlier in the episode when Oliver told Felicity that he’ll back her up no matter what she decided about Diaz (Kirk Acevedo).
I think the one thing better than the Olicity moments (and this is coming from a huge Olicity fan) was when Laurel (Katie Cassidy) easily guessed Felicity was pregnant because there was no wine. Then later she went on to tell Felicity what a badass she is. I’m living for this friendship. Please keep it coming.
While there is a lot of gloom in the flash-forwards, I’m loving Mia. She really is a lot like her mother. The more we get to know her, the more we see Felicity in her. I like that William (Ben Lewis) and her are now working together, too.
We don’t have all the answers yet, but I do wish we could tell Wiliam that his father did try to get in touch with him numerous times. Was it his grandparents that stopped Oliver from getting in touch or something else? Could that mini cassette have all the messages from Oliver?
We are finally done with Diaz. Not before he alerted Dante to the plan or before Felicity almost killed him, but he’s gone. Now we have a new villain to contend with, and he’s quite the fighter. He seemed scary as it was, but now that we know he knows Emiko, that makes him even worse.
