From season one, episode one, I have loved The Bold Type. It had this freshness to it that I loved. The writers have managed to keep that going all the way through season three, but the season finale took it to another level. The ending will leave you speechless. If you haven’t watched yet, stop reading this before you are spoiled.
I hope that when we return to season four when the company sees the great reception the issue gets, that Scarlet will be fine. This is clearly a bigger storyline than an episode and it’s right to be. This conversation has been going on a long time, and it’s still going on. The fashion industry is having a hard time changing. I’m glad The Bold Type is taking this on and I’m glad it wasn’t wrapped up in one episode.
Standing up to the fashion industry wasn’t the only thing happening this episode. Ryan (Dan Jeannotte) was pleading his case with Jane. While most of the tweets I saw on Tuesday night were for her to not give him a second chance, a few were pointing out that Kat (Aisha Dee) did cheat, and not to mention she was seeing both Adena (Nikohl Boosheri) and Tia (Alexis Floyd) while she was figuring things out. He was wrong but he knows he’s wrong. He paused his book tour just to make it right. In some ways, I think Ryan had to have this slip to stay faithful in the long run. Now, they both know what this means to them.
All of our girls were being very strong in this episode. In the end, Sutton told Richard (Sam Page) to move to San Fransico and pursue his dream. I hate that this means we probably won’t see much of Richard in season four because who doesn’t like staring at Sam when he’s on screen? But as Sutton says, he deserves to love what he does too.
This was certainly a “Bold” season, but that’s what we signed up for. What do you think season four has in store for us?
