In the last four season of The Originals, the season finales have all been incredible but this was something even better. It almost felt like a series finale, but I’m glad that it wasn’t.
It’s been “Always and Forever” for almost their entire lives and now they have to break that vow to save the youngest of them all, Hope (Summer Fontana). They can never see each other again. Rebekah (Claire Holt) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) have dreamed of this day, well at least the part of getting away of Klaus (Joseph Morgan). Now that this is happening, they realize how much they need each other. Rebekah was going crazy at this prospect but she did it for her niece.
Elijah, he took this much differently. He has been there for Klaus no matter what and he knows that he would be there for him in a heartbeat. He asked Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) to take “Always and Forever” away from his memory. This broke my heart. A thousand years of memories. He took all that away so he could never jeopardize Hope, for Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin). Now that is a great love but it’s also very heartbreaking.
Klaus couldn’t be without his brother and at the very end, you see him checking up on Elijah. He seemed happy that Elijah was living his life but still sad.
There were some good moments at the end, even if they also made you cry more. Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) was getting an engagement ring for Davina (Danielle Campbell). Rebekah and Marcel are finally getting their chance together. I guess Marcel needed to hear those words from Klaus to make it okay to be with Rebekah. Plus, Klaus can never interfere.
One of the best moments in the episodes, besides all these heartbreaking moments, was when Klaus was telling Marcel he failed him. I love these two and I always want them to just forgive each other. They mean so much to each other and I think in that moment they did. Both of them were getting a little teary-eyed.
Freya (Riley Voelkel) also had heartbreaking moments. First, she called Keelin (Christina Marie Moses) to tell her she needed her. Then, since Kol wasn’t showing up, Freya decided she would become a vampire to save her niece. She is truly a Mikaelson like Rebekah said. Luckily, Kol walked in at the last moment. She’s still determined to find a way to save her family, though.
It was just one heartbreaking moment after another. I was happy that Hayley and Elijah made-up before all of this happened.
Hope is exactly where she’s meant to be: The Salvatore Boarding school for gifted children. I think Klaus would approve as well. Very sad we couldn’t have seen a glimpse of Caroline (Candice King) but still happy she’s there.
Since this isn’t the series finale. The writers have to find a way to bring them all back together. This show is about “Always and Forever” and we can’t have that if the Mikaelsons are all torn apart. I have faith in Freya. She gave the plan to Hayley to save them before and it took her five years to get what she needed. Freya will save them again. This isn’t the end of “Always and Forever.”
